On January 28, 2007, Jimmy Dignard-Fortier won a free spot at the Pre-Season Camp August 6-10th. His team, Longueuil Bantam A, offered a strong performance in the finals of the Tournoi Sud-Ouest tournament held at Montreal's Sylvio-Mantha Arena.
Benoit Barbeau was pleased to offer him this recognition of excellence, and our winner enjoyed the experience. Bravo Jimmy! MONTREAL SUD-OUEST BANTAM-MIDGET TOURNAMENT Benoit Barbeau named Honorary President This year, the 23rd edition of the Montreal Sud-Ouest Bantam-Midget Tournament will take place January 7-27, 2008 at the Gadbois Complex's Georges and Sylvio Mantha Arenas. It's with great pride that Benoit Barbeau will assume the role of Honorary President of the Tournament. Himself a Sud-Ouest resident, Benoit will be present at the opening and closing ceremonies. In keeping with tradition, Hockey Benoit Barbeau will be pleased to offer two free spots at the 2008 Pre-Season Camp: one spot will go to a player participating in the Bantam A finals and the other will be awarded a lucky Bantam B player. Good luck to everyone and thanks to Louis Chassé and his team of volunteers for all their hard work! Last April, a group of young hockey players from France paid us a visit as part of a cultural and sporting exchange program. Verdun’s Minor Hockey Association hosted two teams from Cergy-Pontoise, a town located 30 minutes outside Paris. Head coach of the French teams, Benoît Clavet, uses the Ice Hockey Teaching Program for Novice and Pre-Novice as does the minor hockey association in Verdun, which is how the two groups initially made contact. An unforgettable week was had by all. Sincere thanks are extended to all the Verdun families who graciously accepted to host the players, as well as to Lyne Sauvé, whose expert coordination ensured the event went off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone for making this a success! ![]() Benoît Barbeau (left) with Benoît Clavet, surrounded by an international gathering of hockey enthusiasts Click here for a printable version (663KB) ![]() Our young friends from Paris proudly sport T-shirts from Hockey Benoît Barbeau Click here for a printable version (1.25MB) HAPPY CAMPERS THANKS TO THE FRIENDS OF VILLE-ÉMARD! In keeping with tradition, over 150 young players participated in this year’s Benoit Barbeau Summer Hockey School, which took place July 4-15, 2005. The School’s success was guaranteed by the talents of a top-quality coaching staff assisted by students of Montreal’s Édouard-Montpetit High School. Our campers had a great time while learning the rudiments of hockey in a one-of-a-kind environment. Next year’s Benoit Barbeau Summer Hockey School is scheduled for July 3-14, 2006.
