THE BENOIT BARBEAU HOCKEY SCHOOL SKILL GROUPS

The BENOIT BARBEAU HOCKEY SCHOOL is a great opportunity to develop new skills or perfect other concepts taught during the season — all at an affordable price. The school is divided into three groups to suit the various age groups and skill levels.

Group A: Power skating and puck control

Level:	6-year-old Pre-Novice players in 2011-2012 7-8 year old Novice players in 2011-2012 Atom A or B players in 2011-2012 Double-letter Atom players in 2011-2012 wishing to improve basic techniques All other candidates will be evaluated individually.
Content:	Forward and backward skating techniques Dribbling (with skating techniques) Sweep passes Pass receptions Sweep shots Dekes Puck protection Theory Video analysis Indoor and outdoor games and activities
Details:	Players will be individually filmed and evaluated on most of the skating techniques taught Players can purchase footage from their evaluation sequences for $15 (portable USB drive not included, details on-site) Frequent mini-games; a regular game on Fridays
Format:	Day-camp, morning and afternoon View the schedule here

Group B: Basic offensive and defensive individual tactics

Level:	2^nd year Atom A players in 2011-2012 Double-letter Atom players in 2011-2012 Pee-Wee A-B players in 2011-2012 All other candidates will be evaluated individually.
Content:	Approach on the carrier Stickchecking Individual coverage on a non-carrier Individual uncoverage Block on a player 1-on-1 offensive and defensive 2-on-1 offensive 1-on-2 defensive 2-on-2 offensive and defensive Face-offs Theory Group video analysis Indoor games and activities Ball hockey and outdoor soccer, etc.
Details:	Video-assisted correction, followed by on-ice teaching outside Frequent mini-games A regular game on Fridays

Group C+: Targeted physical training, introduction to body checking and basic offensive and defensive group tactics

Level:	2^nd year Pee-Wee A players in 2011-2012 Bantam A players in 2011-2012 Double-letter Bantam players in 2011-2012 Midget players and above in 2011-2012
Content:	Body checking Man-to-man defensive territory positioning 1-2-2 and 2-1-2 fore-checking Breaking out Advancing through the neutral zone Crossing Moving in the offensive zone Offensive territory positioning Theory Use of videos
Details:	Physical training especially geared to hockey players in the morning Progressive teaching of body checking and various group tactics Games are organized frequently to assist the transfer of tactical skills
Format:	Day-camp, morning and afternoon View the schedule here

Group C: Introduction to body checking and basic offensive and defensive group tactics

Format:	This group is identical to Group C+, without the physical training Afternoons only View the schedule here
Cost:	$400, tax included

Goaltenders: Basic techniques and individual tactics

Level:	Same as for Groups A, B, C+ and C
Content:	Skating skills Basic stance Balance and moving on skates Covering angles Collecting information Game situations Indoor and outdoor games and activities (Groups A, B and C+) Video analysis
Details:	Goaltenders are integrated in the groups and receive coaching from a specialized trainer Players can purchase footage from their evaluation sequences for $15 (portable USB drive not included, details on-site)
Format:	Same as for Groups A, B, C+ and C
Cost:	Groups A, B and C+: $540, tax included Group C: $400, tax included
